Following the successful proof of concept with My Neighbor Alice, we are excited to announce the launch of Chromia’s Shared Appnet! This new initiative will create a single network that will support multiple ecosystem projects.
Dapps running on the Appnet will be able to utilize a wide range of Chromia’s features, and will also be able to bridge specific assets from Ethereum, Binance Chain, and Polygon.
The underlying network has already been brought online, consisting of multiple system and dapp nodes operated by a subset of our network providers. Chromia Appnet has been designed to offer a stable environment with data permanence, allowing early dapps to build a user base and demonstrate the potential of our technology. Through our internal intake process, we have already received multiple onboarding requests.
In the meantime, work will continue on the Testnet Expansion. Additional development is needed to prepare a mainnet release candidate that allows public and autonomous dapp launching, incorporates native billing, and allows generalized asset bridging. We will continue to update the community on our progress, while also highlighting all the exciting activity taking place on our Appnet.
To facilitate the future transition between Shared Appnet and mainnet, we have designed migration tools that will allow projects to get a head start on the Appnet and move their dapps, users, and data to the public mainnet after launch.
We have more news about dapp onboarding in the pipeline. Be sure to watch our social media channels for the latest developments!
