At Chromia, 2019 was a year of great changes, new partnerships and exciting opportunities. Here's what we've been up to.
2019 was the year in which “Chromapolis” became “Chromia”. The new name evokes our heritage with colored coins, and formed the basis of a total branding overhaul capably executed by our friends at Snask. Chromia is a name we are all happy and proud to rally around for the rest of this journey.
Under our new brand umbrella, we launched Chromia Studios, a strategic initiative that will stimulate the Chromia ecosystem by developing a series of games as a foundation for others to learn from and build on. The first Chromia game, Mines of Dalarnia, will be launched early next year! Stay tuned for more exciting announcements!
This year was full of travel for the Chromia team, who travelled around the world to present our latest technology at a range of events, conferences, and industry gatherings. A highlight of the year was attending Consensus in New York. Our CEO Henrik Hjelte spoke on the topic “What is Relational Blockchain and how it can bring Power to the Public”, which attracted hundreds of interested enthusiasts, investors and industry professionals.
Later on in the year, the Chromia team presented the concept of relational blockchain at WebSummit in Lisbon, one of the biggest tech gatherings of the year. Todd Miller, VP Business Development USA, shared his impressions in a blog post you can read here.
We also attended ASD Token New York conference, laBITconf 2019 in Montevideo, TechCrunch Disrupt Event in Berlin, Blockland Conference in Cleveland, Slush conference in Helsinki and a laundry list of others in Europe, Asia and the United States.
2019, was a busy year for partnerships and projects too. In November, ChromaWay, in cooperation with the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) won a tender to develop a pilot about “Distributed Ledger Technology (Blockchain): The Future of Land Titling and Registry”. The 2-year project will build on the Chromia relational blockchain, and aims to use technology to combat corruption and fraud where it causes the most harm.
We announced a strategic partnership between Chromia and NGC, a key backer of more than 40 blockchain projects and, with over $400,000,000 in crypto assets, one of the largest institutional players in cryptocurrency investment. As a result, we welcomed NGC’s founding partner Roger Lim as Chromia’s latest advisor.
The last big piece of news of 2019 was the closing of a deal to acquire the industry leading XR and blockchain games development studio Antler Interactive. The acquisition will further bolster Chromia’s gaming capability, attracting users and demonstrating the potential of our platform. We are very excited to welcome the Antler team on board and to work closely with them in the future.
A hard year, but a year full of progress and promise. We know that this is just the beginning of our exciting journey with Chromia. With many projects, conferences and announcements coming up, 2020 is shaping up to be even more exciting.
From all of us at Chromia, happy holidays and a happy 2020!
