Chromia Mainnet Onboarding Guide
This article may be updated over time to reflect the most up to date information.
This guide is provided for reference only. Users are responsible for the custody and management of their assets. Start with small amounts if you are uncertain about any part of the processes described.
Understanding CHR
Chromia’s native token is called Chroma, and is designated by the ticker $CHR. It exists in three versions:
- As a token on Chromia Mainnet, often referred to as ‘native’ CHR.
- As an ERC-20 token on Ethereum, with the contract address 0x8a2279d4a90b6fe1c4b30fa660cc9f926797baa2
- As a BEP-20 token on Binance Chain, with the contract address 0xf9CeC8d50f6c8ad3Fb6dcCEC577e05aA32B224FE
All three versions of the token are part of the same 978M maximum supply.
Centralized exchanges may support one, two, or all three versions of the CHR token. Users should check these details carefully before depositing or withdrawing.
What is Chromia Vault?
Chromia Vault is our official dapp browser, wallet, and asset hub that provides access to several network functions. It’s where you open dapp accounts, bridge CHR, transfer tokens across the network, stake CHR, and more.
Why Do I Connect MetaMask (or other EVM wallet) to Chromia Vault?
Since Chromia is a standalone Layer-1, you might wonder why you connect your Ethereum wallet to Chromia Vault.
Chromia isn’t EVM compatible, but it is EVM interoperable. Despite its different architecture, it can still communicate with Ethereum and other EVM chains. This allows your Chromia account to be linked to your EVM address.
Think of your Ethereum wallet as a tool that is being used to authorize the actions you take while using Chromia Vault.
Understanding Chromia Mainnet and Economy Chain
Chromia uses a multichain design, with each dapp running on its own chain for flexibility and scalability. Due to this design, tokens need to move around on the network to be used within any given dapp. These internal transfers, managed through the ‘Transfer’ tab in Chromia Vault, are fast and free.
Economy Chain is the home chain for native CHR. When you bridge CHR from an EVM chain or withdraw native CHR from an exchange, it arrives in your Economy Chain account. Likewise, to send native CHR to a centralized exchange or bridge it to Ethereum or Binance Chain, it must first be on the Economy Chain.
How Do I Find My Economy Chain Account?
- Go to Chromia Vault and connect your EVM wallet of choice using the ‘Connect’ button in the top right.

- Now, click on the EVM address that appears where the ‘Connect’ button previously was.

- Your Chromia account string can be found and copied from the ‘your account’ box’.
How Do I Activate My Economy Chain Account?
While you can receive tokens before activation, you must activate your account to make transfers, check your balances, and view transaction history. Activation is a one-time process.
Chromia requires users to meet certain conditions to activate their Economy Chain account. These requirements exist to prevent ‘bloat’ created by users activating an unlimited number of accounts.
In the ‘your account’ box, you will see an ‘Activate’ button. Click it to display the available options.
The ‘Deposit (bridging)’ option is completed by bridging CHR from Ethereum or Binance Chain to Chromia, and has no additional fees beyond the gas costs incurred for using those networks.
The ‘Transfer’ option is completed by receiving native CHR via withdrawal from an exchange with native support or an existing Economy Chain account. Both of these methods carry a 10 CHR activation fee, which is automatically deducted from the incoming amount.
Withdrawing Native CHR from a CEX with Chromia Mainnet support to Chromia Mainnet
As of September 2025, the following centralized exchanges support Native CHR: Binance, MEXC, BitMart.
To withdraw Native CHR from a supporting exchange, you will need your Economy Chain account string. Refer to the section above, “How Do I Find My Economy Chain Account?”
Depositing CHR from Chromia Mainnet to a CEX that supports Native CHR
As of September 2025, the following centralized exchanges support Native CHR: Binance, MEXC, BitMart.
Depositing Native CHR to a supporting exchange requires both an address and a memo number. Be sure to make note of both of these from your exchange’s Deposit page.
- Ensure the native CHR you want to deposit is on the Economy Chain.
- Go to the Transfer Page, connect your wallet, and select Economy Chain in the ‘from’ field. Your Economy Chain address will automatically populate into the ‘From address’ field.
- Select Economy Chain in the ‘to’ field, and enter the address provided by the exchange’s deposit page.
- After completing this step, an additional box will appear that allows you to enter the memo number.
- Click request transfer, review the details on the next page, and confirm.
Bridging ERC-20 or BEP-20 CHR to Chromia Mainnet
- Go to Chromia Vault.
- Click the ‘connect’ button on the top bar and connect your wallet of choice.
- Click the ‘Deposit’ button on the top bar.
- You will be directed to the deposit page which shows your CHR balances on both Ethereum and Binance Chain. Select the chain you want to bridge from, make sure ‘Chromia Economy Chain’ is selected in the ‘Deposit to’ dropdown, enter a quantity into the ‘amount field’, and then click ‘Deposit’.
- In the steps that follow, you will approve your spending limit, send your CHR tokens to the bridge contract, and activate your Economy Chain account if necessary.
Bridging Native CHR back to Ethereum or Binance Chain
- Ensure your CHR is on Economy Chain.
- Go to the Vault Withdrawal Page, connect your wallet and select Chromia Economy Chain in the ‘Withdraw from’ field.
- Select either Ethereum or Binance Chain in the ‘Withdraw to’ field, based on your preference. Enter an amount and click ‘Withdraw’.
- Review the details on this screen and click Confirm. For security reasons, bridging to Ethereum or Binance Chain requires a significant number of confirmations and may take several days. The estimated arrival time is displayed during this step.
- You will sign a message and then send a transaction in your EVM wallet.
- Once the required number of confirmations have been reached, initiate the final step on the Economy Chain dapp page under the History tab by clicking ‘Withdraw’. After this transaction has been completed, your CHR tokens will be available on Ethereum or Binance Chain.
Acquiring Native CHR Using Transak
Transak is a fiat on-ramp that lets users buy cryptocurrency using bank transfers, Visa, Apple Pay, Google Pay, and other methods. CHR purchased through Transak can be delivered directly to your Economy Chain account, offering a convenient onboarding option. Note that Transak requires users to fulfill KYC requirements during registration.
Acquiring ERC-20 or BEP-20 CHR Using a Centralized Exchange (CEX)
If an exchange supports ERC-20 (Ethereum) or BEP-20 (Binance Chain) CHR, you can deposit and withdraw these tokens to and from your EVM address, typically using a wallet like MetaMask, SafePal, TrustWallet, etc.
Acquiring ERC-20 or BEP-20 CHR Using a Decentralized Exchange (DEX)
Uniswap is the primary DEX for trading ERC-20 CHR on Ethereum. Please be aware that CHR liquidity on Uniswap is limited, and this option is only suitable for trading small quantities.
PancakeSwap is the primary DEX for trading BEP-20 CHR on Binance Chain. There is more liquidity available on PancakeSwap, and this option is suitable for trading moderate amounts of CHR.
Acquiring ERC-20 or BEP-20 CHR Using a Wallet Interface
Your EVM wallet may offer a ‘Swap’ function that users can utilize to buy or sell CHR. This is a more convenient way of accessing the liquidity available on Uniswap and PancakeSwap.
Onboarding to Mainnet by Bridging USDC from Binance Chain to ColorPool
ColorPool is the leading DEX on Chromia, and it offers a bridge that allows users to bridge USDC between Binance Chain and Chromia Mainnet. When using this bridge, USDC arrives on the ColorPool Bridge Chain, and in turn can be sent to ColorPool’s DEX chain and traded for CHR.
After completing these steps, users can hold their CHR on ColorPool’s DEX chain, or send it to the Economy Chain if desired. For more information about ColorPool and how to use it, check out the ColorPool Onboarding Guide.
