May 2025 Monthly Update

May 2025 Monthly Update

May has been a busy month across the ecosystem, with external projects launching and others actively developing. While external teams build on the platform, Chromia’s core team continues advancing infrastructure, upgrades, and tooling. There’s a lot in motion, and June is shaping up to be just as active.

Development Update and Roadmap Adjustments

Developing a full-stack Layer-1 and coordinating with partners to keep multiple initiatives moving forward means that our roadmap is continuously evolving. We regularly adjust timelines to reflect development progress. The first version of the ZKP Extension has been completed and is currently undergoing internal testing.Development of an optimized version of the AI Inference Extension is ongoing. The new version is expected to support more modern and advanced models and remains one of our current areas of focus. Read more in this blog post.EVM Real Time Ingestion has been rescheduled to Q3. Work on this feature is currently paused in order to prioritize the objectives mentioned above and to allocate development resources to several parallel efforts, including:

  • Launching "Token Chain", which will serve as a hub for the storage and creation of FT4 tokens (more on this coming soon!)
  • Collaborating with existing ecosystem projects to bring FT4 versions of their tokens to mainnet.
  • Working with additional centralized exchanges to add support for FT4 and native CHR.
  • Supporting mainnet integration efforts with ColorPool and other upcoming DeFi protocols.

We appreciate the community’s continued interest and will provide further updates as these initiatives progress.

ColorPool

On Monday, May 26th, ColorPool launched their DEX and USDC bridge. The launch is off to a solid start, with over $400K in TVL. Users can now trade native CHR for USDC directly on Chromia mainnet, as well as swap COLOR for CHR.The ColorPool team has more updates on the way including the launch of COLOR staking on Thursday May 29th, and a liquidity farming campaign expected to begin next month. If you’re interested in participating, we recommend transferring assets, creating an account on the ColorPool DEX chain, and getting familiar with how the DEX works. To learn more, read the launch post on our blog and check out our onboarding guide.

Chromia x TinTinLand

TinTinLand is a Web3 Development Community based in the Greater China Region. On May 24th, TinTinLand and Chromia held the first stop of their China tour in Shanghai. The event featured presentations from Yeou Jie (Head of Business Development) and Johnson Lai (Head of Data and AI), who introduced Chromia and discussed the potential of relational blockchain to support on-chain vectors and decentralized computation.Check out this post for some video highlights from the event.

Social Agents

On May 5th, we launched Social Agents, a demo dapp built on Chromia that adds a new interactive layer to existing NFTs.Users can customize and configure NFTs with unique names, bios, and personality traits, transforming them into ‘Social Agents’. The dapp runs on Chromia with no bridging or gas fees required. NFTs remain on their original chain while gaining added functionality. An AMA about the project was held on May 13th with Alex Mizrahi and Elena Minakova, hosted by Claire Maddrell. You can watch the recording here.Thank you to everyone who tried the demo and shared feedback. We're reviewing it as we continue exploring the intersection of NFTs, AI, and EVM enhancement.

Container Grant Program

The Container Grant Program, launched last month, is still ongoing. The program was launched to support developers interested in building on Chromia, and covers six months of mainnet container hosting costs for eligible participants. Full details are available in this blog post.

Chromia’s Developer Advocate Team

Dmytro Zahumennov has been sharing content on his DEV Community page, including a recent four-part guide on building a prediction market on Chromia.Philip Hilm recently published a video tutorial on our YouTube channel that walks the viewer through the process of setting up a local Chromia development environment. You can also follow Dmytro and Philip on X, where they regularly share news and resources related to Chromia development.

Looking Ahead

June is shaping up to be an eventful month for both core development and ecosystem growth. Work continues on our decentralized AI initiatives, DeFi activity on Chromia is gaining momentum, and some key ecosystem projects are preparing important updates. As always, follow our official channels for the latest!
