May 2026 Monthly Update
May was an active month for the Chromia ecosystem, with new project launches, industry discussions, and continued development across AI and decentralized infrastructure.
ATBASH Launch
ATBASH launched this month on Chromia, introducing a new approach to AI agent oversight and policy enforcement.
As AI agents become increasingly capable of executing code, interacting with external tools, and signing blockchain transactions autonomously, the challenge of supervising their behavior becomes more important. Traditional guardrails can prevent obvious misuse, but they are often too rigid to handle more complex situations involving financial activity, infrastructure access, or irreversible actions.
ATBASH addresses this problem by introducing a policy layer between the agent and the action being performed. The system evaluates higher risk actions against configurable rules before execution occurs, while recording decisions on-chain to create an auditable history of approvals and denials. The project reflects a broader shift toward AI systems that are not only autonomous, but also accountable.

Your agent is calling tools, signing transactions, and shipping code faster than anyone can review.
ATBASH routes every red-line action through policy before the agent runs it, and writes the decision on-chain after.

Unbound
EVAL Engine launched Unbound this month, offering a fully local AI experience designed to run directly on consumer devices.
Unlike most modern AI systems, which rely heavily on centralized cloud infrastructure, Unbound operates entirely on-device through browsers and mobile environments. Inference, interaction, and model execution occur locally rather than being routed through remote servers, giving users more direct control over how AI systems operate and what data they access.
The launch reflects growing interest in AI systems that prioritize privacy, sovereignty, and independence from centralized platforms. Unbound also explores the implications of distributing powerful AI models without the restrictions commonly imposed by hosted services, raising broader questions about openness, user responsibility, and the future relationship between AI capability and centralized control.
