Welcome to the eighth monthly update of 2024. Let’s take a look at the technical progress, key announcements, and news from around the world of Chromia from the last month!
ITP Is Coming to a Close + ProjectNet Winners!
HackNet concluded at the end of June, and we have paid out the 16k CHR in rewards earned by participants. The remaining 84k CHR from the HackNet prize pool was will be used for future initiatives.
The ProjectNet demo dapp contest closed on August 2nd. The winners of the contest have now been selected:
Rakein has been awarded the Gold prize and will receive 20,000 CHR.
Chronnect has been awarded the Silver prize and will receive 16,000 CHR.
Chromify has been awarded the Bronze prize and will receive 14,000 CHR.
Please note that being selected in this contest does not imply official endorsement by Chromia. Rewards have been distributed. Thank you to all the participants!
The final QuestNet dapp (DNT) has been added to the Dashboard as of Wednesday August 28th, and we have extended the deadline to complete quests to Monday September 2nd. As a friendly (and not-so-subtle) reminder, the QuestNet page says:
“the way to maximize your potential rewards is to complete all available quests.”
It’s not too late to catch up on anything you missed, or start questing from scratch! We will be sharing a rundown next week that will cover some key QuestNet statistics and outline how the team will determine and distribute rewards to participants.
MVP Mainnet is Running Steady
Our MVP Mainnet launched in July, and we are pleased to report that so far the network has been very stable. Here are a few interesting statistics and takeaways from the first weeks of mainnet:
- The network is running across a global network of 20 providers, including several notable names including Binance, Dappradar, and Everstake.
- CHR bridging between the Chromia Economy Chain and Ethereum/Binance Chain has been working well, with over 725k CHR in combined deposits and withdrawals.
- Our first dapp cluster, ‘pink’, has processed over 386,000 transactions.
- Third-party DeFi platform Rakein has deployed some interesting things to mainnet, including a platform for creating meme coins and swapping them for real CHR tokens. (Please note that this is not an official endorsement. Users should do their own research before interacting with dapps!)
- Information about chain activity and the provider network can be viewed on our Mainnet Block Explorer.
Ongoing Development Objectives
Our team is continuing preparations for the Native Staking rollout, and we plan to release it by the end of September. We published the following article earlier this summer to help users prepare for the switch:
Chromia Native Staking: What You Need to Know.
The Vault team is close to integrating CHR bridge withdrawals into their UI, and are planning to push this update in the next few weeks.
Future Scope and Objectives
We have been busy behind the scenes setting scope and objectives for Chromia’s continuing evolution throughout the rest of this year and into 2025. We are keeping a lid on things for now, but we have a lot lined up in September.

Our monthly Developer Experience updates inform readers about the latest improvements being made to documentation and tooling to support Chromia’s growing developer community. Highlights of the August update include fresh Chromia Learn content and the first version of the Rell Linter.
