Welcome to the fifth monthly update of 2024. During our ‘Road to Mainnet’ phase, updates will primarily focus on the roadmap while briefly discussing key announcements and news from the Chromia ecosystem.
Mainnet Release Candidate Testing
We anticipate that incentivized testing will begin in approximately two weeks.
The testing program will be split into three initiatives with different areas of focus: security and stability tests for coders and blockchain enthusiasts, dapp creation and deployment for developers, and Vault and dapp interactions for everyday users.
More information will be shared soon; follow our official channels for the latest!
Chromia Vault
Chromia Vault’s base features (basic account creation, transferring native CHR, etc.) are completed, which will serve as a starting point for public testing.
Work is ongoing to add advanced account creation methods, and integrate EVM bridging into the Vault UI. These are nearing completion and will be incorporated into the testing program once deployed.
Trail of Bits Audit Progress
Last month, we shared that top 10 auditing firm Trail of Bits was hired to perform a security audit on several mainnet components, including the Directory Chain, Economy Chain (native fees, rewards, and staking), Postchain Networking and our EBFT consensus mechanism.
The audit has been underway for 4 weeks and will continue for another ~3 weeks.
The audit has provided useful feedback that our team is already using to enact improvements. So far, none of the findings of the audit are considered major blockers to mainnet delivery.
When Will a Mainnet Launch Date Be Announced?
On April 29th, we published a message from co-founder Alex Mizrahi that stated:
“After assessing the results of incentivized testing and the audit process, our departments (C-level, development, marketing, business development, etc.) will coordinate to set and announce an official mainnet launch date.”
Developer Experience Team Update
The May Devex Update contained some important milestones in delivering the best possible development environment for dapp builders. Chromia CLI has now been integrated with the VS Code Plugin’s UI, significantly streamlining the programming and testing process.
Technical Blog
May also saw the first two entries in a new Technical Blog series. This content is directed at existing and aspiring Rell developers, sharing insights from various experts already working in the Chromia ecosystem:
Exploring Chromia’s Project Module Structure
As we move to mainnet and beyond, attracting and supporting developers becomes even more central to Chromia’s success. The Technical Blog series is one part of a larger effort towards this goal.
Looking Ahead to June
- Incentivized testing begins
- Trail of Bits audit concludes
- Continued work on Chromia Vault
